AI chatbot development — assistants grounded in your own data.

Appsarmy is an AI chatbot development company. We build chatbots and virtual assistants that look answers up in your own documents, act inside your real systems, and run on your infrastructure when the data cannot leave it. It is a focused part of our wider AI development practice.

01 /Capabilities

Chatbot development services, from retrieval to rollout.

An AI chatbot that is worth deploying is four layers, not one: a model, a retrieval layer that looks answers up in your content, a tool layer that lets it act in your systems, and a guardrail layer that knows when to stop. We build all four.

Customer support chatbots

Assistants that resolve rather than deflect — answering from your own policies, order data and help content, and handing over to a human with the full conversation attached when they should.

Internal copilots

Assistants for your own staff, over the documents they already search badly: SOPs, contracts, engineering runbooks, product specs. Usually the fastest payback, because the audience is forgiving and the data is already yours.

Custom chatbot app development

A conversational interface inside your own mobile or web app, sharing its session, auth and design system rather than bolted on as a widget.

WhatsApp & messaging bots

WhatsApp Business API, Telegram, Slack and Microsoft Teams. We also build Telegram bots as a practice in their own right.

Document and knowledge assistants

Retrieval over large, messy document sets, with citations back to the source page so an answer can be checked rather than trusted.

02 /Grounding

A chatbot is only as good as what it can look up.

WITHOUT GROUNDING QUESTION MODEL FLUENT, UNSUPPORTED no source to check WITH GROUNDING QUESTION from a real user RETRIEVAL your docs, your data vector search MODEL answers from context ANSWER with a citation or an honest no

This is the whole difference between a demo and a system. A wrapper around a public model has no access to your pricing, your policies or your account records, so it answers plausibly and sometimes wrongly. Retrieval-augmented generation retrieves the relevant passage first, constrains the model to answer from it, and cites the source. Where the data cannot leave your network at all, we run open-weight models on your own hardware — the cost side of that choice is worked through in on-prem vs cloud AI inference.

03 /What we build

The chatbots companies actually ask us for.

01

Support deflection that resolves

Answers from your own help content and order data, with a measured containment rate and a clean handover when the bot should stop.

02

Banking and account assistants

Balance, statement and servicing queries against a real core, with strict tool boundaries and audit logging. Built alongside our fintech app development practice.

03

Internal knowledge copilots

Over SOPs, contracts and runbooks. The quickest win in most organisations, because the documents already exist and the audience tolerates a rough edge.

04

Lead qualification and onboarding

Conversational intake that writes into your CRM rather than into a dead inbox, with the qualification rules written down and testable.

04 /How we build

From "could a bot handle this?" to a bot on duty.

01

Find the answerable questions

We take a real sample of inbound questions and sort them into answerable from documents, answerable only with a system call, and genuinely needing a human. That split decides the scope.

02

Build the evaluation set first

A set of real questions with known-good answers, written before the bot exists. Without it, "it feels better" is the only available measure of quality.

03

Ground, then connect

Retrieval over your content first, tools and system calls second, each with validation and an audit trail. Irreversible actions get a human approval step.

04

Ship narrow, widen on evidence

Launch on one channel and one question type, watch where it fails, widen from there. A bot released across every channel at once fails everywhere at once.

06 /Why Appsarmy

A chatbot team that has to live with what it ships.

01

Grounded by default

We do not ship assistants that answer from a general model alone. If there is nothing to retrieve, the honest output is "I don't know" and a handover — and we build it to say so.

02

On-prem when the data demands it

Regulated data does not go to a third-party API. We deploy open-weight models inside your network, the same architecture we use across our AI development work.

03

Software engineers first

Most of a chatbot is ordinary software: auth, integrations, queues, logs, failure handling. Ours is built by people who ship those anyway.

04

Measured, not demoed

Containment rate, answer accuracy against the eval set, escalation quality. A demo proves a bot can answer one question; these prove it can answer yours.

07 /Engagement models

Work with us the way that fits.

Chatbot feasibility sprint

A short, fixed engagement over a real sample of your questions, answering what a bot could actually handle — before you fund a build.

Fixed-scope build

One channel, a defined question set, an agreed accuracy bar, a written scope and a clear price.

Dedicated AI pod

An engineering pod that keeps widening coverage and retraining on the failures, sprint after sprint.

08 /FAQ

AI chatbot development questions.

What does an AI chatbot development company actually build?

Four layers, not one: a model, a retrieval layer that looks answers up in your own documents, a tool layer that lets it act in your systems, and a guardrail layer that decides when to hand over to a person — plus the channel integrations.

How is this different from a ChatGPT wrapper?

A wrapper has no access to your pricing, policies or account records, so it answers plausibly and often wrongly. A grounded bot retrieves from your content first, answers only from that, cites the source, and declines when it finds nothing relevant.

Can the chatbot use our own documents and data?

Yes — that is the central design decision. We index your documents, policies and ticket history into a vector store and constrain the model to answer from what it retrieves. This is retrieval-augmented generation.

Can it run on our own servers instead of a public API?

Yes, and it's our default for regulated data. We deploy open-weight models inside your network so no record leaves it. The cost trade-off is covered in on-prem vs cloud AI inference.

Can it do things, or only answer?

It can act. Through function calling we give it defined tools — check an order, raise a ticket, look up a balance — each with validation and audit logging, and human approval on anything irreversible.

Which channels can it run on?

Web, in-app, WhatsApp Business API, Telegram, Slack and Microsoft Teams. Retrieval and tools stay the same across channels, so a second channel costs far less than a second bot.

How do you stop it making things up?

Grounding, citations, refusal behaviour, and an evaluation set of real questions with known-good answers that every change is tested against. Hallucination is a measurable defect, so we measure it.
